Assistant Restaurant Manager
Position Summary
The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports the Restaurant Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, bar, and dining outlets. This position is responsible for ensuring exceptional guest service, maintaining operational standards, developing associates, and supporting financial and administrative objectives. The Assistant Restaurant Manager serves as a leader on duty and helps create a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and guest satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Guest Service
- Ensure all guests receive prompt, professional, and courteous service.
- Address guest concerns and complaints in a timely and effective manner.
- Perform service recovery when necessary to resolve guest issues and enhance satisfaction.
- Monitor dining room operations to ensure service standards are consistently met.
- Build positive relationships with guests and encourage repeat business.
Leadership and Associate Development
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training restaurant associates.
- Provide daily coaching, direction, and support to restaurant team members.
- Monitor associate performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Assist with performance evaluations and development plans.
- Promote a positive and respectful work environment.
- Ensure associates adhere to company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Support employee engagement and recognition initiatives.
Restaurant Operations
- Oversee daily restaurant operations in the absence of the Restaurant Manager.
- Ensure proper opening, shift transition, and closing procedures are followed.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and overall guest experience.
- Maintain compliance with health department regulations, food safety standards, and company policies.
- Conduct regular inspections of dining areas, bar areas, storage rooms, and service stations.
- Ensure proper staffing levels are maintained to meet business demands.
- Assist with scheduling and labor management.
Financial and Administrative Responsibilities
- Support labor management efforts by monitoring staffing levels and productivity.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering processes.
- Help control food, beverage, and supply costs.
- Review and approve associate timecards as directed.
- Assist with payroll-related processes and documentation.
- Support achievement of departmental revenue and profitability goals.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required reports.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all company safety standards and OSHA requirements.
- Promote a safe working environment for associates and guests.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of food and beverage products.
- Monitor compliance with alcohol service regulations and responsible beverage service practices.
- Assist with workplace investigations and documentation as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in manager meetings and departmental planning activities.
- Support hotel-wide initiatives and special events.
- Maintain effective communication with other hotel departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant leadership or supervisory experience is required.
- Strong guest service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
- Knowledge of food and beverage operations and service standards.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency with restaurant point-of-sale systems and basic computer applications.
Pay rate is determined based on experience
