We are hiring a Chief Engineer!

We are in search of a dynamic Chief Engineer oversee the hotel's maintenance operations, building systems, and preventative maintenance programs. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for guests and associates while ensuring compliance with Element brand standards and company requirements.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities in this role include:

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, train, coach, and develop the maintenance team while fostering a positive, professional, and safety-focused work environment.

• Manage scheduling, performance, communication, and daily departmental operations.

• Ensure associates are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.

Maintenance & Facilities Operations

• Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs in accordance with Element brand standards, manufacturer specifications, and company requirements.

• Prioritize and manage work orders, conduct inspections, and ensure timely completion of repairs.

• Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, laundry, kitchen, and other hotel systems and equipment.

• Oversee the upkeep of guest rooms, public areas, building exteriors, grounds, and back-of-house spaces.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inventory, and equipment documentation.

Contractor & Vendor Management

• Coordinate and supervise contractors and service providers, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with hotel standards.

• Obtain and review quotes, monitor project costs and timelines, and ensure work is completed according to agreed specifications.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with brand standards, company policies, fire and life safety requirements, and applicable regulations.

• Maintain required inspections, safety documentation, key control, and emergency procedures.

• Identify and promptly address potential hazards and operational risks.

Guest Service & Departmental Support

• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and support the General Manager in resolving facility-related concerns.

• Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments to coordinate room readiness, maintenance priorities, and operational needs.

• Maintain a guest-focused approach while ensuring the hotel remains safe, comfortable, and fully operational.

WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, ARE YOU …

• An experienced professional with a minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in a similar sized hotel property.
• A 5^th or 4^th Class Power Engineer.

• Previous experience in hotel engineering, facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related field.

• Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building systems.

• Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

• Experience managing contractors, vendors, and maintenance projects.

• Knowledge of applicable safety, fire, and building regulations.

• Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to urgent situations.

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate in an on-call rotation as required.

• Physically able to frequently stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, crouch, and lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds or more.
